Review of the first day: No decisions yet

The wonderful weather and the perfect pitches created a perfect start for the 63rd editioin of the PSV youth tournament of the Otten Cup. On a crowded Herdgang the eight participants played their first match of the groupstage.

The day started with many goals in the openingmatch between sc Heerenveen and Pão de Açúcar from Brazil. After a furious start, the Brazilians score the first goal of the tournament. Heerenveen equalizes before half-time. And after the small break, Heerenveen seems to get the victory when they score two more. Nevertheless the Brazilians get a draw after all by scoring two goals in the last few minutes.

In the second match of the day cupholder FC Twente/Heracles plays Tottenham Hotspur. The British score their first goal after a few minutes already. But several minutes later FC Twente/Heracles equalizes the score. In the second half the "Tukkers" go for their changes to win the game and after scoring two more goals, the victory is certain. The cupholder starts the tournament with a good victory and a first place in group A.

With lots of goals in the first group, Sparta Rotterdam and Real Madrid kicked off in group B. There are hardly any oppurtunities created in the first half, but in the second half Real Madrid take the lead very quickly. The end of the match is disturbed by two red cards. Real Madrid-player Sarabia is sent off because of hitting his opponent. Shorly afterwards Sparta-player Van Dijk gets a red card because of a mean foul.

The last match of the day is played by host PSV and RSC Anderlecht. Recently the two teams met at the Eurofoot tournament. The Belgians beat PSV 1-0, that ended the game with only nine players. Todays match wasn't one with a lot of action. PSV was close to a goal when Josemar Makiavala hit the post after a corner. Also in the second half there aren't many oppurtunities. A few minutes before the final whistle PSV gets some bad luck. Goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet brings down an opponent, just outside the box. The referee decides to give a red card, which means PSV ends the game with ten and without any goals.

After a day with many goals and even more red cards in one day, than in the whole tournament last year, everything is still possible. In both groups there was one draw, which means the decisions will be made tomorrow.
