Club Brugge begint het duel fel en krijgt gelijk een goede kans, maar het schot van Jakke van Britsom beland in het zijnet. Even later weet Benfica bijna te scoren, door een hoekschop direct in te draaien. De keeper en de lat weten redding te brengen. Een minuut later komt Benfica op voorsprong. Club Brugge claimt een overtreding op zijn captain, maar de scheidsrechter laat doorspelen en Isaac Ferreira maakt er dankbaar gebruik van.
Er volgen nog een aantal mogelijkheden, maar de ruststand is 1-0.

Moments later, Benfica almost scored directly from a corner kick, but the goalkeeper and the crossbar came to the rescue. Just a minute later, Benfica did take the lead. Club Brugge protested for a foul on their captain, but the referee waved play on and Isaac Ferreira gratefully capitalized: 1-0.
More chances followed, but the halftime score remained 1-0.
The first part of the second half saw little action. Midway through the half, Club Brugge were awarded a deserved penalty. Captain Laurens Goemaere stepped up and calmly converted, bringing the teams level again.
Shortly after, the Belgians had a golden opportunity to take the lead. They broke through the offside trap and Jessi Pedro Da Silva had a chance he simply couldn’t miss—yet his shot rattled the crossbar. Benfica struggled to respond, while Club Brugge also failed to find the net again. As a result, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
