Op zondagochtend 9.30 uur vangen RB Leipzig en Chelsea hun kruisfinale aan om te bepalen wie er later vandaag om de vijfde plek mag gaan strijden.
RB Leipzig komt goed uit de startblokken en neemt snel de overhand. Dat levert twee schietkansen op voor Din Klapija, maar helaas voor de Duitse formatie, treft hij geen doel. Kort daarna is het alsnog raak, het is Mads Bröcker die de score opent.

In de dertiende minuut moet Chelsea FC-verdediger Walte aan de noodrem trekken. Dat levert hem een gele kaart op, en dus een tijdstraf van 4 minuten. RB Leipzig weet het numerieke voordeel direct te benutten. De vrije trap die volgt op de overtreding van Dante Walte wordt door Tomasevic binnen geschoten.
Gedurende de rest van de eerste helft probeert Chelsea FC aan te dringen, maar tot kansen komen de Engelsen niet. Daardoor is de ruststand 2-0 in het voordeel van RB Leipzig.

Even lijkt de spanning terug als Dante Waite uit een corner de stand op 2-1 brengt. De vreugde aan Engelse kant is echter van korte duur, want Al Khalaf maakt er snel 3-1 van. De Duitse formatie krijgt daarna nog diverse schietkansen, maar het lukt niet om de voorsprong te vergroten.
Doordat Chelsea FC geen gevaar meer kan stichten eindigt de wedstrijd in een 3-1 overwinning voor RB Leipzig, dat vandaag een stuk beter voor de dag komt dan in de groepsfase.

Later vandaag mag RB Leipzig zich opmaken voor de strijd om plek 5 tegen SL Benfica, Chelsea mag gaan proberen om het toernooi niet als laatste af te sluiten en treft Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC.

The German side started strong, quickly taking control of the match. Din Klapija had two early chances, but it was Mads Bröcker who broke the deadlock.

In the 13th minute, Chelsea defender Dante Walte was forced to make a last-ditch foul, earning a yellow card and a four-minute penalty. Leipzig capitalized immediately: Tomasevic curled in the resulting free kick to make it 2–0.

Chelsea tried to respond but failed to create any real chances before halftime, leaving Leipzig with a comfortable lead at the break. Early in the second half, Dante Waite gave the English side hope by heading in a corner to make it 2–1. That joy was short-lived, however, as Al Khalaf quickly restored Leipzig’s two-goal cushion with a clinical finish.

Leipzig continued to press, with Bröcker and Tomasevic both hitting the post, but couldn’t extend the lead further. Chelsea struggled to threaten, and the match ended in a well-earned 3–1 win for RB Leipzig—an impressive turnaround compared to their group stage performance.

RB Leipzig will face SL Benfica later today in the battle for fifth place. Chelsea FC will take on Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in the match to avoid finishing last.
