Van Duivenbooden: 'This feels great!'
PSV reached the semi-final of the 2019 Otten Cup after a 1-0 victory against FC Barcelona. Simon van Duivenbooden scored a last-gasp goal and was immediately mobbed by jubilant team mates. We spoke to the match winner straight after the game
“You scored the winner against Barcelona and now you are through to the semi-final. How do you feel? ”
“I saw most of the match from the bench. We knew we needed a win to reach the next stage. We battled for every inch. I came off the bench to score the winning goal in the last minute and this feels great.”
"What did you think when you came on as a substitute?"
“I thought with ten minutes remaining I would give my all. And I was in the right place to tap home from close range. It brought so much joy and relief.”
"And tomorrow another game is coming up."
“We need to recover now and get ready for tomorrow’s games. Giving 100% is the only way. I feel confident we will get some good results.”
