The second day of the Otten Cup saw the decisions being made in both groups. Some major results and a lot of goals were scored during the day.
Group A was won by Internazionale without dropping a point or conceding a goal. They beat Cruzeiro EC 5-0 and Manchester United 3-0 in the process. Because Borussia MG drew 1-1 with Cruzeiro and beat Manchester United 1-0 the Germans finished in second place, while Manchester United finished third. Cruzeiro EC were disappointing and finished bottom of the group.
Hosts PSV were the convincing group winners in group B. In their first match of the day they thrashed the title defenders RSC Anderlecht for the first time in tournament history (9 attempts) 7-0. This was their biggest win since 1980 when they beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 7-0. The groups final match was won 2-1 against Estudiantes. PSV will play Borussia Monchengladbach in the semi final.
In a direct match up between Paris St Germain and RSC Anderlecht, the second place in the group was decided. The French won 3-1 and will play Internazionale in the semi final tomorrow. RSC Anderlecht will face Manchester United in a repeat of last years final for fifth place. Estudiantes de la Plata will play for seventh place in a South American clash against Cruzeiro EC.
